    Working in a field where African-American photographers are easily overlooked has its challenges. Building trust in areas where traditionally we haven’t always been welcomed, striving to independently keep up with the tech trends, and maintaining momentum and fostering positive relationships all have been tough. However, even with those obstacles the journey has been worth fighting through the highs and lows.

    J.J. has always designed and walked his own pathway. A pathway that has led him to understand the dynamics of being an athlete, the fundamentals of being a CEO, the humility of being a distinguished photographer and videographer, courage as a blogger, patience as a mentor, hard work as an Alpha man, dedication as a husband, sacrifice as a father, and consistency as a humanitarian.

    Some sixty years later, and countless world leader conversations later. I am the recipient of the impact of the “Brown Why”. Who knew that the day my father stood next to the man that owned a struggling start up business, that his son would one day be responsible for helping reintroduce that said man to a generation that may not know his name and good deeds. It’s because of men like Bob Brown who wrote the original bill for the federal funding/support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, that African-American students would be provided with the ability to receive a top-notch education.

    In summation, when world leaders begin to echo the words of your grandmother, you’ve become the somebody that she knew you were born to be…
